The Process

We've been in the business a long time and have therefore gained valuable experience on how to do the refurbishment of alloy wheels properly. Where other companies only perform a few of the tasks we do, be assured we carry out the complete process to ensure the best quality result. No short cuts are taken here and the work is guaranteed. You'll find that even though our work is detailed and thorough, we have the fastest turn around and the best in value for money in the business.

In an article taken from The Golf car magazine, David James, our MD said "We can't create a brand-new wheel from a grotty old one and on safety grounds, we won't repair buckled wheels - where the rim is distorted relative to the centre section. But the majority of bumps and scrapes can be repaired perfectly, as good as new".

So what's involved? There's lots of reasons why new, showroom alloy wheels end up battered and bruised. What we do is put those wheels through a defined process of repair, and, if needed, re-paint.

The first thing is we must remove as much dirt and grime as possible. We'll chemically clean, bead blast or do both on the wheels. With spoked wheels, all the nooks and crannies must also be cleaned. The chemical process used here, which can be up to 3 stages, will ensure that the wheels emerge grime free.

The next stage is to remove as much corrosion as possible. The most effective way is to turn the wheels on a lathe using a pre-programmed profile of your particular wheel. This process removes a fine layer of alloy exposing a fresh new look for the wheel. For safety reasons we won't refurbish wheels that have already been refurbished a number of times if we feel the process will result in a weak and unsafe wheel.

If the wheels need repairing, such as split rims, we can cut out the problem areas and build it back up using welding techniques. Once done, we'll then diamond turn the repair to fit with the profile of that wheel.

We have over 2,500 pre-programmed wheel profiles to ensure that we only remove what needs to be removed and no more. We also have the expertise to customise a profile for you. Once stored, you can call on us for any additional refurbishment in the knowledge we have your profiles matched out. If you have Mag (magnesium) wheels, then we can refurbish them too. The next process is to coat the wheel, to give the wheel protection against corrosion. There are a million and one ways you can finish a wheel but the basics are as follows:

We can powder coat and bake a wheel to give that real alloy finish and then apply a layer of laquer to protect the wheel against stone chips etc. If your wheel was painted, then we can re-paint the wheel using an exact match of paint be it a flat colour or metalic.

If your wheel is two or three toned, then we can handle those too by using a mixture of masking and turning to get the required result. Infact, no matter what your wheel looked like, we can get it exactly how it was or do a completely new custom paint job for you.
